I have been designing jewelry for a company called Ruff&Cut. Ruff&Cut is a socially responsible jewelry company. The company has a goal to create an invisible cord that ties the land and the people who bear the stones to those who wear them.
There are several designers and local artists who come together to create a diverse collection. The designers use recycled metals in organic shapes as well as diamonds and precious stones to form the Ruff&Cut Collection.
In keeping with the company’s dedication to giving back to the community, 10 percent of the wholesale cost of each piece will go directly to nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) working in Africa to improve the lives and livelihoods of communities involved in metal and gemstone mining and jewelry manufacturing.
I have been working mostly with the gemstones designing a line of fine jewelry. Today I matched the stones to my designs and on Thursday will send 15 pieces into production. There will be photos and information on the Ruff and Cut website by June. In the meantime, check out the website and read about the collections.
